INTRODUCTION

ADCEM (Pty) Ltd, a South African Company, tied up with various suppliers overseas to bring in quality Portland Cement, to meet the demands of the construction industry. 

South Africa and Africa is going through an unprecedented growth in the construction industry, mainly brought about by both the national and provincial government’s initiatives to construct housing, infrastructure upgrades and developments regarding the World Cup Soccer in 2010. 

This growth, coupled with the magnitude and intensity (tight timescales) of the various projects, has put huge pressure on the supply of cement to the construction industry. Without adequate cement supply, and the lack of contingency plans, the timescales of most of the civil construction projects will not be met. This will have dire consequences to the general industry and business as a whole. 

CEMENT SPECIFICATIONS 

The cement is to be imported from the Asia and Europe and conforms to the following specifications: 

  • Ordinary Portland Cement Construction Grade 42.5N or R or CEM 1 42,5Mpa
  • British and SABS EN 197-1, ASTM C 150

Refer to Annexure A for a detailed breakdown of the chemical composition.

The cement product is approved by the SABS, and a certificate in this regard can be obtained upon contract signature. 

COMMERCIAL CONDITIONS

Payments

Within 7 Banking days of the signature date, the Buyer shall provide the Seller with a non operative non, transferable letter of credit for the full contract value payable to the seller’s bank to the satisfaction of the Seller and/or its bank and the satisfaction of the seller and its bank. Partial shipments shall be allowed, transhipments shall not be permitted.

Delivery

From date of order and signed contract: 5 to 7 weeks. All documentation has to be in place before the order is placed for shipping. Delivery is made to all harbours in Africa and Southern Africa.  

Packaging 

The product shall be packed in net 50 kilogram 3 or 4 ply poly  bags. 30 x 50 kilogram bags or bulk will be packed into a 1,5 ton bulk polypropylene bag with water proof liner. Single bags shall have a combined tare of 100 Grams and be sufficient to ensure the safe arrival of the product to the final destination.
